Activate your card now

3 Quick Steps

The fastest way to activate online

  1. 1

    Have your card ready

Locate the 16-digit card number, expiration date, and 3-digit security code (CVV) on the back.

  2. 2

    Visit the activation portal

Go to the official online portal printed on your card or your purchase receipt.

  3. 3

    Enter card details

Carefully type the card number, expiry date, CVV, and any postal code requested.

Activation methods

Most JokerCards in Canada are activated automatically at the cash register when you complete your purchase. If your card was not activated at checkout, or if you received it as a gift, you can activate it using one of three methods below.

1. Online activation (recommended)

  1. Visit the activation URL printed on the back of your card.
  2. Enter the 16-digit card number exactly as printed.
  3. Enter the 4-digit expiration date (MM/YY format).
  4. Enter the 3-digit CVV from the signature panel.
  5. Confirm the activation. You will see a success screen with the available balance.

2. Phone activation

Call the toll-free number listed on the back of your card. Follow the automated prompts to enter your card number, expiry date, and CVV. The system will confirm activation immediately.

3. In-store activation

If you bought the card at a Canadian retailer, the cashier scans and activates it as part of the transaction. The receipt will confirm the loaded amount and activation status. Always keep this receipt — you will need it to dispute any issue.

How long does activation take?

Online and in-store activation are instant in nearly all cases. Phone activation takes one to two minutes. In rare cases involving fraud-screening holds, activation may take up to 24 hours; if you are still blocked after a full day, contact the issuer directly.

Troubleshooting

The portal says my card is invalid

Re-check every digit of the card number. The number 0 (zero) and the letter O are easy to confuse on a printed card — try a different reading angle and consider activating from a desktop browser.

I get a "card not loaded" error

The retailer may not have completed the load. Wait 10–15 minutes and try again. If the problem persists, return to the store with your receipt — they can re-trigger the load on their terminal.

My CVV is rejected

Make sure you are entering the 3-digit number from the signature panel on the back, not the card number on the front. Some cards print a 4-digit CVV near the embossed number on the front; check both locations.

After activation

Once your card is active, register it on the issuer's website to enable balance protection (in case the card is lost), online shopping address verification (AVS), and easier transaction history access. Registration is always free.
